Lemony Snicket on NPR

Daniel Handler, better known as Lemony Snicket, is the author of A Series of Unfortunate Events.  The series is young adult, but having never read then as a child, but picked them up more recently, I think they are witty and remarkable.

The series follows three sibling orphans as they struggle to find someone to take care of them while staying away from the evil Count Olaf.  In addition, the narrator, Lemony Snicket puts his own narrative in the series which slowly reveal his romantic loss as well as his connection to the children.  They are hilarious, satirical, and if you haven’t picked up the series (I still have 3 books to finish) you should!

Anyway, yesterday on NPR, I heard an interview with Daniel Handler about his new book, Who Could That Be At This Hour?  Apparently the new book series is about Lemony himself, solving mysteries as a kid and satirizes the mystery genre.

The interview was funny and informative, with Daniel speaking about his novels as well as his accordion talent (which he picked up in order to meet women, haha!).

If you’re a Snicket fan, you’ll love the interview!  Check it out here.

I noticed he wrote other books, too!  Read any?

Thanks for reading,

Rebecca

  1. I have always thought about reading the book but never got as far. I have watched the movie some years ago and actually quite enjoyed it because of it’s witty storyline. Think I should put this on my “To read” list :)
